First EUonAIR Blended Intensive Programme at HTW Berlin

In the last week of September, HTW Berlin hosted the first Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) of the European University Alliance EUonAIR. Students from partner universities ESSCA School of Management (France), ISM University of Management and Economics (Lithuania) and Kozminski University (Poland) joined 18 HTW Berlin students in the course Informatics and Society taught by Prof. Dr. Katharina Simbeck.

This is how the EUonAIR Blended Intensive Programme went

The international students spent one week at HTW Berlin, working in teams to develop presentations on topics such as Fairness and Bias, Ethical AI and Museums, and Machine Learning for Cultural Heritage. The programme was complemented by short inputs on AI in Culture, Fairness in AI, and AI in Marketing.

Students presented prototypes at the German Museum of Technology

A special highlight was the visit to the German Museum of Technology: In international groups, students developed AI-based prototypes to automatically catalogue objects from the museum’s depot and presented their results to the curator, Dr. Nora Thorade.

To be continued

Beyond the academic work, the programme also offered opportunities for personal exchange — for example, during a joint bowling evening that further strengthened the international ties among the participants.

The next EUonAIR BIP will take place in winter at Kozminski University in Warsaw.
